About Us

The reason for this community is simple: to help men unlock their masculine power. We do this alongside other men, because we believe that when one man works, we all work.

How do we do this?

  • Obliterate toxic masculinity*

  • Teach men skills that they may never have learned growing up, or have forgotten

  • Help men feel and express their rawest emotions in a safe and authentic way

  • Offer them a platform where they can learn, grow, and succeed alongside other men on similar journeys, from all walks of life

  • Guide men to their innermost, authentic selves - tapping into ancient wisdom that is still practiced by tribes and indigenous peoples all around the world

  • Allow men to define masculinity as it works for them - not what society deems it to be

*Toxic Masculinity is described as the present paradox of the traditional male gender role. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), this role is essentially a set of masculine ideals spread by society onto men, beginning at a young age.

These ideals include men becoming:

  • A man who is “self-sufficient”

  • Tough

  • Emotionally restricted

  • And more

This is especially damaging to men because it discourages seeking help and vulnerability, which can lead to feelings of shame and defeat. Men in today’s society are struggling. We are struggling with societal pressures, a changing economy, relationship issues, a lack of friendships, and loneliness.

We aim to change that.

The Founders

The co-founders of Authentc Men, Phillip, Tom, and Dan, have been on a path of personal development for decades, and met at a Men’s retreat, the first one either of them attended. Their initial shared awareness and connection was a desire to serve others, specifically men. They have all experienced firsthand the dramatic improvements that men’s work plays in their lives, and they want to guide other men to this work.

About Phillip:

Phillip has an exceptional reputation as a successful business leader, owning, operating, and scaling public and private manufacturing businesses over the last 30 years.  His skills as an expert negotiator that sees potential where others cannot, makes him a natural fit in the competitive New York marketplace. His mantra and ethos is to bring authenticity to every interaction, and he engages current and potential clients with a personal approach. “My overwhelming desire and goal is to be in a position to help people improve the quality of their lives through a Holistic connection between their environment and their lifestyle”. Committed lifelong fitness lifestyle including twelve years’ experience as a Cross Fit athlete, a lifelong runner, weightlifter both competitively and recreationally, and a nutrition expert for performance maximization in athletics.

About Tom:

Tom has worked in the public service and education sector for the past 35 years. As a social worker, counselor and community change agent, he has first-hand knowledge about how relationships truly can change communities and therefore the lives of people. His work in Higher Education for the past 20 years has shown him how men are showing up in the community.  Many are trying to make their environment work for them in isolation and as a result often find themselves feeling lost and disconnected with limited support. Men are being told that the world is at their finger tips, but are faced with a world of competition where success is defined in a limited way. He is committed to assisting men to find a better way to build a community that helps them connect not only with each other but in life.

About Dan:

Dan initially obtained his masters degree in social work because he wanted to help others. He became frustrated with the bureaucracy and seeming lack of flexibility in his training on how to be a therapist, and thought, “there has to be a better way to help more people.” For the past 10 years, Dan has been on a journey of figuring out exactly how to do that. He has worked in corporate america, started his own business, and worked with numerous startups in the mental health/coaching industry. He has since become a certified life and business coach, working with people from companies such as Mattel, DriveTime, JD Finish Line, and more. Personally, Dan has experienced hardships which have shaped his view of the world, and how he wants to support men in it. Without the strength he has gained from men’s work, and unlocking his own masculine power, he would not be here today.
